Assessing the ages of unaccompanied and separated children seeking asylum is a contested and controversial area of work. The Association of Directors of Children (ADCS) has issued guidance for social workers to follow when undertaking age assessments, but these continue to be subject to legal challenges. This round table seminar brings together policy makers, practitioners and academics to discuss the implementation of the ADCS guidance and consider constructive ways forward that support ethical social work practice and promote the rights and welfare of unaccompanied children and young people.
